Self-hosted IT for businesses: away from cloud lock-in, under your own management.
How much of your business-critical data currently sits on servers you have no control over whatsoever? Files with an American cloud storage provider, passwords with a service that could be acquired tomorrow, company videos on YouTube where another platform decides whether, how, and at what price you can still reach them. One price change, one acquisition, or one closed account down the line, and you’ve lost months of work.
“Homelab” doesn’t cover it once it’s a business or a sole proprietor involved — there’s nothing “home” about it. That’s why, for clients, we call it the BedrijfsLab: the same self-hosted approach as a homelab, but set up for your business, on your own hardware, under your own management.
Away from cloud lock-in. We set up self-hosted alternatives and keep them performant and reachable, with access only over VPN — not just open on the internet. Think of:
- Nextcloud — your own files and calendar, not with an external party
- Immich — your own photo management
- Home Assistant — home automation under your own management
- Paperless-ngx — document management
- Vaultwarden — password management
- Uptime Kuma — monitoring of your own services
- LibreChat / OpenWebUI — your own chat interface for AI models that also run fully locally themselves, via Ollama, llama.cpp or vLLM
- n8n — automation between your own systems
- Syncthing — file synchronization without a middleman
- Gitea — your own Git hosting
For AI, that “own” doesn’t just apply to the interface or the data you put into it, but to the model itself: with Ollama, llama.cpp or vLLM as the engine under LibreChat/OpenWebUI, the language model runs entirely on your own hardware. No prompt, no document and no customer conversation that leaves the building for an American AI provider — for sectors where that genuinely matters, such as healthcare or law, that’s often the deciding reason to choose self-hosted.
Your own company videos — recordings of workshops, training sessions, customer conversations — don’t belong on YouTube either, where a third party watches along and profits along. That’s why, on request, we build a private media platform: a private streaming service (Jellyfin) for that kind of content, with automatic organization and subtitling (Sonarr, Bazarr) and a request portal so colleagues can indicate what they want to watch back (Jellyseerr) — everything pulled in over an encrypted connection (VPN-in-container, qBittorrent), so this part stays fully yours too.
That comes with serious backup discipline (with Kopia, following the 3-2-1 principle) and storage on ZFS pools, so that “self-hosted” doesn’t come at the cost of reliability.
The result: no more surprises when a cloud provider changes its terms, doubles the price, or simply ceases to exist. What’s in the BedrijfsLab stays yours — today, and in ten years.
